One would presume that such a stupid thing as propaganda may resonate only in the minds of the common people who are not clever at this (yes, let’s face it).
People with higher IQs, intelligent in a broader sense, well educated (formally or informally) should be more resistant to propaganda. They have better cognitive apparatus, somehow devoid of cognitive biases, fallacies, formal logical error; and argue with arguments without emotions. No, they are still legitimate targets and governments, politicians, shadow eminences and journalists know it. Of course, they manipulate their peers.
The most massive propaganda in the Western world is American and Israeli. They go and try to spread not only propaganda but also ideologies (both of them are highly animalistic – information about the world should be spread in study materials with statistics and mathematics in a more normal world).
The key dichotomy is “us/them”. And while you are not either of them, they still want to gain sympathy and attract you to the “us” side.
There are unnamed foreign affairs magazines that offer propaganda in such an impossible manner that is hard to believe it can exist.
We, the USA, are the most moral, doing everything best for the world and some enemies try to subvert it. No matter how many million people we kill, kidnap or torture, it is still “us” and we are great.
The democracies (or at least the US claims so) supporters versus the bad enemies, it doesn’t sound bad. The issue is harder to grasp with the Israeli thing that is more complicated.
Because of Zionism, Israel was established in the world’s most volatile region. What a huge mistake! By the means of violence, they expelled the Arabs! Another mistake.
I am not justifying any violence by any means, both from Arabs and Israel. It is absolutely insupportable to fire missiles at, stab or shoot the Jewish citizens of Israel. But in 2024, it is despicable to kill Arabs by tens of thousands no matter how much they want to kill every Jew. But the Israelis actually don’t seem to be concerned as well.
Palestinians basically cannot work, there is no foreign investment, no studying, no entrepreneurs, no sensible economic policies. As David Cameron called it, the occupied territories are the biggest open-air prison in the world.
In my humble opinion, I side a bit with the Israelis because if Arabs could, they would kill every single Israeli which is utmostly despicable. But here is the propaganda. Israelis are the best, peaceful, making no problems, but Palestinians are lazy, don’t work and only want to make violence.
As I mentioned before, I completely get that this propaganda works for ordinary people because – let’s face it – they are not bright. But the propaganda actually works for politicians, diplomatists, shadow eminences and journalists.
So Benjamin Netanyahu and his likes don’t believe the narrative they present, millions of people adhere to it with the influencers (journalists, politicians, and so on) contributing to make it happen.
