First of all, I must admit this article is rather speculative than something serious. So please be careful with your conclusions.
When having been exposed to what then formal-education system called history lessons I have had never understood why Napoleon could have had waged wars with nearly everybody.
And because history lessons should be about connections, relations rather than stupid dates they kept secret from me that France had been so populous back then that they could have waged the wars.
The population development in France is kind of strange having started in the 1600s. Some say have their country had normal population development they would have 300 million people now.
The same issue arises with Great Britain. We surely know the genetics of white Americans is mainly English. So what if the emigrations waves have never happened? We may speculate but Britain could be large at some 150 million people.
And now the tragic Russian story. Genocides, wars, famines, all that contributed that the country has 146 million people but it could have easily had 200 million. So maybe, maybe.
