Some smart people often attached tables where they compare the average wage in the communist regime and the average now. They want to demonstrate how many loaves of bread, gasoline, flour you could have afforded in the previous regime and now. And of course, nowadays regime excels.
However, my sensible reader feels some foul play.
1. You are comparing data 30 years old, the communist regime economy would have also risen (scientific progress would impact even the backward communist regime); and there is no simulation of it.
2. They never mention things like rents, sewer rates, electricity (and all these things soared drastically), and, finally, income inequality
So you can buy more things even with media average salary, but some have their wages very low. Not only around 1/3 are worse off relatively but some of them have living conditions subpar of the communist regime in absolute terms.
