I visited a Kebab Shop once. I politely asked what kind of meat it was, whether it was Halal or not. “We have beef, chicken and pork. All except pork is Halal.” I replied: “All right. I will have the pork then.” No problems so far.
After eating, I found the vendor and said: “Well, it was good but I won’t support this industry.” The vendor suddenly turned from V to T distinction, and disrespectfully said: “Out, get out, you Halal.” Since I didn’t want to start a fight I complied.
I am not going to discuss whether eating meat is moral or not, but even when the religious slaughter does not take place, the worst is living rather than dying for the animals because the conditions are terrifying.
When eating meat, the animal may have been tortured or not. But when you are fully aware the slaughter was Muslim or Jewish, it is really despicable because slitting your throat fully consciously is not like severing your limbs. The pain is absolutely unimaginable.
In my hometown of Jičín, there is a fast-food service whose owner likes to pick fights so he knows what pain is. And his reaction to Halal slaughter: “I have seen that video. I would shoot the people conducting it.”
The meat in the UK is not labeled whether is Halal or not so it is absolutely unspeakable because the British would otherwise choose what they prefer. We are talking about hundreds of millions of beings with consciousness.
Europe is proud of how humane we are (even though I really doubt this) and this is happening on the industrial scale, we just want mass torture because of stupid, superstitious myths that possess absolutely groundless claims, without any evidence and internal logic.
People don’t need to torture animals in order to eat meat. I cannot believe how people are eating out in that aforementioned restaurant, some unaware, some not caring.
But since the 21st century is a century of religion we must comply. No big resistance so far.
