The silliest of the silly. You have IQ 120 and then it’s over

Have you heard this? When you have an IQ of 120 and more it doesn’t matter anymore. There are two possibilities how the proponents of this meant it:

1. There is progress of intelligence over IQ of 120 but doesn’t matter; that signals that people with IQs of 160 are on the same level as people with IQ of 120. Well, science can clearly debunk this. There is robust statistical evidence varying professions possess different IQ that goes way beyond 120.

2. People with IQ above 120 show no progress even though different (and higher) IQs can be measured. What would this mean for this world, science, and technology? We would have been stuck in the age of stone and sticks. Not only that people with an IQ of 120 would have been unable to grasp all varieties of different knowledge but no progress would have been made. No television, internet, refrigerator, no asphalt roads, no mathematics, no sophisticated buildings, just sticks and stones.

Actually, this is a very huge misunderstanding of the whole g factor concept. The g factor is distributed by Gaussian curve and as with every Gaussian curve, it has its extremes of the extremes. Thus, people with IQs of 160 and 180 are the leaders of research and further development.

As a matter of a fact, this is tragic testimony for the psychologists who came up with this.
