Nas mnogo? Do Americans cherish life the same way as Russians do?

I was met with plenty of anecdotal evidence that Russian people have a huge disregard for human life: gulags, famines, extrajudicial killings, the Russian Civil War, 2014 Russo-Ukrainian War. They used to say “nas mnogo” (there are plenty of us) which doesn’t require any comment further. One division after division lost without any cry. If the debilitating actions of their insane rulers were averted, Russia could have had 200+ million people.

While the cruel Russian leaders were waging one war after one war, the average Russian is pretty resilient.

One could barely say that American disregard for human life is met with the Russian case, but let’s take a look at it:

American Civil War (around a million killed)

Spanish flu (around a million) WW1 (100 100,000), WW2 (half a million), Opioid epidemic (half a million)

Drug overdose overall (around a million).

So we can really say Americans cherish their own lives more than Russians, however, their crusades a few super-rich sociopaths take advantage of, cost millions of foreign lives:

Iraq – one million+ deaths

Vietnam War – 3 million

Korean War – around 1,5 million

Afghanistan – 250 thousand deaths

War on Drugs – tens of thousands of deaths

Special ops (including murdering alleged terrorists and civilians – tens of thousands, nobody knows

“Nas mnogo!” Or wait! “There are plenty of us!”
