Does your atheism offend people? Go and live in the Czech Republic, France or Denmark

Being an atheist is very problematic in the United Arab Emirates, Iraq or Iran. And what about the oldest democracy? Yes, count it as one.

Being a gay president is much better than being an atheist president. And you can be sure there have been covered-presidential atheists.

If you are a non-believer and come out you can offend a lot of people. This is exactly what Richard Dawkins was against when he wrote his book The God Delusion (primarily marketed to theist American believers).

In the Czech Republic, the situation is reversed. We are quite tolerant but actually believing in God may bring mockery. The fact of the matter is that even less intelligent people are God-less.

Because there is no religious upbringing people don’t tend to be religious. Of course, people are spiritual but organized religion is on retreat. The Catholic Church has been connected to enormously hated Habsburgs which were seen as occupiers. And then the first Czechoslovakian president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk came with his slogan “Retreat from Rome”.

So if you are sick and tired of living in countries that are full of religious bigots emigrate to countries like France, Denmark, or the above-mentioned Czech Republic.
