Putting you into the position of the president of the United States of America brings you enormous moral obligations (even from the “normal morality” standpoint which I have little understanding of).
Like all the politicians on the planet, you are restrained by the interest groups. You have 10,000 issues to solve, but they purposefully block your intentions in order to get their own advantages. The interest groups exist in complicated constellations and block each other. So you try to play them around as you can, give them their advantages, and try to solve as many issues as you can – gaining the political capital (of course, if you have good intentions, a lot of politicians do things just to prolong and extend their power).
You have a lot of time-consuming activities which are totally purposeless. But here comes my point.
I, as an OCD sufferer, am worrisome in a pathological manner. I am obsessive about things and I am microscopically analysing and solving them. And whilst these features are pathological in daily life, I think they serve well for the president.
There is so much enormous suffering the US president can solve. The prison reform (a prison system that just doesn’t work), mentally ill intervention (250,000 severely mentally ill people homeless, other hundreds of thousand severely mentally people in jail – the worst time ever (sic!) to be severely mentally ill in the USA because back then you had housing and food); some people still lack medical care; modern slavery, ending the senseless War on Drugs (it doesn’t prevent drug use, it is just killing people in Latin America); limiting the War on Terror (as it has killed far more people than the terrorists killed), vulnerable minorities dropping out of the high schools early; climate change, exploring suffering in detail (what to prioritize, where to ease suffering); developing medicine for stimulant drug abuse cure, provide access to affordable housing, tame income inequality, pursue immigration reform, invest in infrastructure and more.
A part of his obsessive repertoire should be raising natality so a few million people get their chance to live.
The POTUS should do the most good. By the way, obsessiveness goes along with another personality trait that can be useful in politics – paranoia.
The exact opposite of the responsible, care-some president is lawyer-like-minded Barack Obama. I hate this laughing asshole who was laid-back, and relaxed, but enjoying the post reclining by his desk. He has killed so many people that Anders Breivik is a loser. In the humble opinion of psychiatrist Allen Frances, a moral giant.
