In a real democracy, you should be able to implement any ideas your mind comes across. Pursue sensible eugenics, imprison those who refuse education (because otherwise, they will end up in poor socioeconomic situations), and so on. Do you think we are able to do it like this? No, meet the self-defending democracy.
Freedom of speaking is a total illusion and a thing the really free-thinking individual cherish.
European self-defending democracy
They always say the Europeans cannot have the same democracy the US has as we are in a different position (both now and historically).
Because there were communists, Nazis so we must deal with all (sic!) opinions that allegedly threaten our beloved and only possible system – democracy.
The European democracies regard themselves as the best solutions and any attempts to divert it are met with strong backlash.
Freedom of speaking? Well, for just a few individuals. The secret service penetrates the “extreme” groups (or political parties) to the point no one can be sure who is really in charge. No other party than the establishment is able to grab power.
Freedom of speech is a complete illusion. Everything inconvenient is prohibited.
How should a real democracy look like
There is the separation of powers – legislature, executive, and judiciary branches usually appear in every democracy. Consequently, it prohibits any influence to change the system.
In a model democracy, you should be able to pursue the “extremely” left or right spectrum, life-long education based on empirical data, improving societal well-being. By the way, this spectrum is one big illusion.
But no, the current state of democracy must be preserved at all costs. All the powerful super-rich groups, attorneys, police, and politicians will stand up for the self-defending democracy at all costs.
One of the few things I admire in America is their freedom of speech. So you can say anything and not face any problems.
So we have stupid, disabled, criminally-minded, greedy, ill, illiterate people. But what a relief! Our self-defending democracy has remained intact.
When democracy becomes obsolete, what’s next?
I don’t have any repressive system on my mind, bud the smartest minds didn’t resolve (and actually are pressured not to do it) any alternative system.
And I don’t think of different philosophical systems that may be inconvenient to the self-defending democracy.
So self-defending democracy will become a huge problem as it thrones itself to the position of only eligible system?
How to get rid of self-defending democracy?
Citizens must prove they are not the sheep. You don’t have to have any constitutions, or any made-up systems, but eligible, smart, educated citizens will be able to control the politicians (so they would not steal, lie, don’t be partisan, etc.).
Therefore, the self-defending democracy that is used to do tricks oppressive government do cease to exist.
