Measuring causality in history is a nonexistent thing. The historians are not mathematicians and don’t want to be ones.
The factor analysis is a great tool but is rarely used. Finding causality in history is on par with celebrity gossip.
We don’t know why the massive formal educational system was created. Have the elites wanted to enlighten the broad masses? Or is the notion of having been able to compete and wage wars with other nations more probable?
Now we have what we have. The famous formal educational system. And we have also a fetish for it.
I must admit I am truly biased. The point is not that I didn’t like or hate schools. I have had severe psychiatric problems because of it and had I been home-schooled I may have averted some of my diseases. The schools destroyed part of my life where I was able to have emotions. Now I am a robot (and not attending any school).
The thing is I don’t want to deny pleasure to some people who celebrate their graduation or have costumes when receiving a university diploma even though I have no understanding of it. But I think that allegiance to some school is enough. Taking school as a part of normal life is completely alien to me.
We must admit the formal educational system was created also because of competition and wars. And you want me to tell you want to celebrate this?
Economies and armies needed a massive influx of highly educated and specialized people.
Also, the formal educational system is something like an industry. The massive industry-like production of people to fit the economy (or sometimes not fit). And since it doesn’t care for a single individual the weaker drop behind. The system is not to design development for a single individual.
And it teaches you everything but how to regulate politics or the super-rich groups that are behind the normally visible politics.
