They are in the spotlight, have such power that they can be stronger than some interest groups, and can play the interest groups around.
Not only that politics change people’s personality (or some part of it) but their power is limited by a short period of time.
Politicians become worn out and are replaced by other ones. But guess what? The lobbyists and super-rich interest groups still hold the power.
And the retired politician can only envy someone who still controls their former colleagues.
